Why I Write

About Me

As a writer, I plan to specialize in content writing for marketing and communications, or as a public relations writer. Thanks to my academic experience at the University of Illinois Chicago, majoring in English with a concentration in Professional and creative writing, I have written in different formats and for varying platforms. I have experience writing for research papers, social media, and newspapers. One of my proudest works I have written while in school is a digital news article about the March 19, 2024 primary election and the problems and difficulties involved that could cause problems if found in the November general election. In my previous work experience I have been a social media intern and was in charge of creating and posting content for three different public profiles each of which had Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok; as well as managing the schedule to best broadcast and publicize the posts for users to see. After my experience working with social media, I plan to take the skills I developed and branch out to other writing avenues. I also hope to work with companies that I can collaborate with to create a clear on-brand message and content to present to audiences. My Skills

Throughout my life I have gained skills from many places, take a look at just a few of them that could be beneficial in many positions.

Writing

Obviously as a writing major I have the skills necessary to provide well-written and comprehensive writing for both every day communications and professional projects.

Speaking

A benefit of being good at written communications, those skills transfer over to verbal communications. I have given presentations and lessons often enough that public speaking is one of my best skills.

Social Media Creation

Thanks to experiences in internship I have learned how to make content for social media throughout the whole process. Both planning and executing ideas for social media, as well as editing pictures and videos to post better.

Leadership

Working and collaborating with others has given me the chance to build my leadership skills and adjust plans to better suit the people that I am working with and leading through different situations.

Organization

Managing both work and school is almost a full time job itslef, but thanks to that I have gained a better organizational system to manage assignments for work and school.

Video Editing

These skills go hand-in-hand with my skills in social media creation, being able to edit and adjust videos/audio to better suit whatever project I am working on has come in handy when creating projects for social media.
